If you woke up this morning with more health than illness....you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation....you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death....you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead, and a place to sleep....you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace....you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still alive and still married....you are very rare, even in the United States.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful....you are blessed, because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them, or even touch them on the shoulder.... you are blessed because you can offer God's healing touch.

If you prayed yesterday and today....you are in the minority because you believe God does hear and answer prayers.

If you can read this message....you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world who cannot read at all.

Have a good day, count your blessings, and pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

Reconsidering....

I am not going to make my blog private for the time being. I am going a different route for now. I know how I like to blog stalk and look at random blogs (I don't get it either, it's just interesting for me) So for now I will leave it open for those people like me that like to look at random blogs. But thanks to everyone that sent me your email, I will keep those handy for when I really do go private :)

Mother of the Year?

We are supposed to be in Church. Instead, our child is finally asleep in his bed with a band aide, gauze, a sock and tape wrapped around his little hand.

Do you remember those really awesome mugs you got when you graduated High School, ya know the ones with your name on it and all the names of everyone in your class? Well, since we moved into Daniel's parents house a month ago, we still had a box full of random things sitting in the corner of our room and Garrett is always getting into it. Up until today it hasn't been a problem. He carried my graduation mug into our bathroom while Daniel and I were getting ready for Church and accidentally dropped it on the tile. The handle broke off and when he reached down to pick up the broken handle he cut his hand. It's not bad but it's right in a place that bothers him and he would rip the band aide right off and it was bleeding everywhere. That explains everything we had to put on it to keep it from bleeding. Poor little guy.

Lets just start this entire weekend over.

Mother of the year? No way

Black & Blue

My desk at work faces this huge tree outside and in the Fall, especially this last week, it's full of color - red, orange, green - it's beautiful! By the end of the day yesterday I was determined to get family pictures on Saturday just because of the beautiful weather and colors!

So I went and picked Garrett up from Jode's house after work and this is what I saw:

There was a collision with one of the little boys at Day Care. After a long day of work this is really the last thing that I wanted to see. Anyway I got him home and after calling the on-call pediatrician, it was decided it would be best to take him in to Urgent Care just to be safe.

The nurse there said that we could either stitch it or glue it. Daniel and I decided on the glue just because of way that stitches would bug him and he would probably pick at them. Well, they had run out of glue and said that we could either stitch it or go to another location. We decided to take the drive just up to Murray and have them glue it. The Dr. there was super nice and did an awesome job with it!

Needless to say there will be no family pictures today and probably not for the next little while.

Cherish Your Life: Live, Laugh, Love

This past week on the news there was an extremely inspirational story about Stephanie and Christian Nielson that were involved in that airplane crash last August. They survived, but with some very serious injuries. Before I even got too far into the story I clicked on the link to their blog and was immediately touched by her thoughts and attitude towards her situation.

I think most of us, especially myself get so caught up in our lives, in the routine, in what tomorrow, next week or even next year will bring. We forget about now. We forget to laugh. We forget to love. We get so worked up about the smallest things, why? A single event today could and will change the rest of our lives whether it be large or small, good or bad.

I take too many things for granted. I put too many things off... the little things, the most important things, that count the most.

Make this moment count. And the next one, and the one after that. Spend your energy today thoughtfully on words and actions that serve you and others well. Be grateful for what you have, knowing that you have far more than you'll ever need. Celebrate your gifts, your creativity, your voice in this grand chorus of life. You and I are both here to inspire one another, to help one another, to share with one another. Sing from your soul. Cherish your life and the lives of those around you. We are all in this together
I especially need to take this statement to heart and remember what matters most to me in my life. I have been so blessed to have the most amazing husband who has made my life so wonderful!
